Purpose
Why we exist
To uphold the voices, experiences, and aspirations of care-experienced tamariki and rangatahi, past, present, and future, so they are connected, heard, empowered, and able to influence the decisions and systems that affect their lives.

VOYCE – Whakarongo Mai is set out to do
- We amplify the voices of children and young people in care.
- We make sure their views are heard in decisions about their lives.
- We shape personal, collective, and systemic change across Aotearoa New Zealand's care system, including holding the system to account for listening to care-experienced tamariki and rangatahi and responding to what they say.
- We support connection, growth, agency, wellbeing, leadership, and opportunities for care-experienced tamariki and rangatahi to shape our culture, practice, and advocacy.
Who we are
A kaupapa-led, independent organisation
VOYCE – Whakarongo Mai is a kaupapa-led, independent organisation governed, informed, and shaped by the voices, lived experiences, insights, and hopes of care-experienced tamariki and rangatahi.
We uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi by recognising the over-representation of tamariki and rangatahi Māori in care, the enduring impacts of colonisation within the care system, and our responsibility to advocate for change that honours Te Tiriti obligations to Māori.
